A home ground for visionary political leaders

Our purpose

Field believes a new kind of leadership is needed to help solve the global challenges ahead.

Leadership that ignites hope and optimism, rather than fear and blame. That chooses to unite people, rather than divide them. Leadership that creates community, and gives people greater freedoms and opportunities.

Leadership that challenges and changes global politics for the better -
by putting people before politics.

“It takes courage and strength to be an empathetic leader and I’m very proudly an empathetic and compassionate leader.”

Rt. Hon. Dame Jacinda Ardern,
Founder

I've always believed in the power of empathic leadership to bring people together.

Strong empathetic leadership puts communities and their interests at the heart of solving challenges, by understanding their struggles and aspirations and offering them a better, more hopeful future.

It’s a leadership approach that is based on the common values we all share, regardless of privilege, position or political affiliation - empathy, curiosity, generosity and kindness.

So many of us share these values because they’re ones we teach our children, and yet somehow, we stopped expecting them in our leaders.

They’re the qualities we need more in politics if we’re to help overcome global challenges.

That’s why we’ve founded Field.

Politics can be an isolating experience for those taking a different approach in solving the global problems of today.

By lifting up empathetic leaders, and supporting them with practical tools, techniques, experienced experts, and new support networks, Field helps those leaders find solutions and approaches to tackling our communities' greatest challenges.

Field is founded on the principle that to solve the global challenges of the future we need leadership that promotes optimism and understanding, rather than fear and blame that is being driven by a minority of extremist and anti democratic individuals.

Leadership that chooses to unite people, rather than divide them, and wants to help heal current divisions, not weaponise them, is critical in our current environment.  Because while the challenges ahead are vast - they are not insurmountable if we can bring people together to tackle them.

Leadership that gives people hope.

Field is a new safe home for those leaders.

About Field

Field is a new fellowship program that uplifts empathetic leadership and provides a global network of support to progressive leaders.

The Field Fellowship identifies pragmatic and influential senior leaders from different countries who choose to lead differently and brings them together for a collaborative 12-month fellowship program.

Throughout the year-long program, ‘Field Fellows’ will support and learn from one another, alongside a range of globally renowned experts, by connecting in person, holding digital meetings, and participating in practical collaborative workshops that explore what it means to practice empathetic leadership in today's challenging political climate.

The first Field Fellowship has begun, running from July 2024 through June 2025, and is regionally focused on Europe. More information about the 2025 cohort and application process will be shared later in the year.

2024 fellows

Our Fellows come from vastly different political contexts. But all have in common a belief that approaching challenges through the power of empathy allows us to bring people together to solve the vast challenges all communities face, by chartering a new path forward.

They want to use politics as a force for good to improve people’s lives, and do so by leading in a way that unites rather than divides, mobilises with hope rather than fear, and reaches those feeling the most disempowered.
